The Bank of Tanzania, an equal opportunity employer and Tanzania’s central bank, is looking for suitably qualified Tanzanian citizens of high personal integrity to fill the following vacant positions at its Headquarters, Dar es Salaam.


Position: MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN GRADE III: –1 POST
Reports to: Head of Division.
Terms of Contract: Contract for an Unspecified Period of Time.
Location: Head Office – Facilities Management Department.
Job purpose:
To maintain and ensure safety of mechanical systems and equipment at all time.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

a) Making Periodical inspections on installations at the Bank premises to identify areas that need attention;
b) Carrying out maintenance and repair services of the Bank buildings, machinery and equipment;
c) Preparing requisitions for spare parts and consumable components to ensure that repairs are undertaken as per specifications;
d) Performing annual preventive maintenance schedules for all high security locking systems;
e) Ensuring safety standards are maintained at all work places;
f) Performing other related duties as may be assigned by the head of division.

Essential Requirements:
• Diploma or Full Technician Certificate (FTC) in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited College/University.
• Certificate of Secondary School education preferably from technical school.
• Two years’ relevant work experience.
• Proven analytical skills.
• Good team player.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Position: ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN III - 2 POSTS
Reports to: Head of Division.
Contract type: Contract for unspecified period of time.
Location: Head Office -Estate Management Department
Job Purpose:
To carry out electrical installation, maintenance, and rehabilitation of electrical networks at the Bank’s offices and residential premises.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

a) Carrying out preventive maintenance of machinery and equipment (Generators, Air conditioners, UPS, PBAX, Water pumps, Electrical motor, Electrical controller, Switch gears, LV boards, change over switches and distribution boards) at the Bank of Tanzania offices and residential premises;
b) Assembling, installing, testing and maintaining electrical or electronic wiring of equipment, appliances and fixtures using hand tools and power tools;
c) Developing wiring diagrams, layout drawing and engineering specifications for electrical systems or equipment modifications or expansions;
d) Carrying out repair or replacement of defective components in electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures using hand tools and power tools;
e) Diagnosing cause of electrical malfunction or failure using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and perform corrective maintenance;
f) Carrying out various electrical tests to our electrical systems, wiring equipment and fixtures using testing devices (i.e. Insulation tester, Multimeter, Earth resistance and Continuity tester) to ensure compatibility and safety in general;
g) Providing assistance during emergencies and ensure that all the safety measures are adhered;
h) Ensuring that safety is maintained at work place in conformity to the IEE set standards;
i) Performing other related duties as may be assigned by head of Division.
Education/Professional Qualifications Required:

a) Diploma or Full Technician Certificate (FTC) in Electrical or Electro-mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution;
b) Computer literacy;
c) Customer service skills;
d) Good team player;
e) Ability to work under minimum supervision;
f) Ability to work under pressure;
g) Strong writing and oral communication skills.
