Responsible for operational hydrology and water resources activities and proper maintenance of civil works within the existing hydro plants including safety of dams.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Undertake collection, processing and analysis of hydrol gical data for the Company's existing hydro power installations.
Monitoring daily water data and generation statistics from hydro plants and advice on any abnormality as far as optimum use of water for power generation is concerned.
Undertake/Perform monthly and hydrological forecasting for relevant rivers optimum usage of major reservoir for economical power generation. quarterly to ensure achieving
In collaboration with other relevant departments assist in devising appropriate water management strategies and policies for the efficient operation of the Company's hydro plants to ensure company goals and objectives are achieved and exceeded.
Coordinate and set up maintenance rules and policy for all dam facilities. The rules include safety rules, patrol and inspection and handling procedures of dam related reports.
Ensure adequate maintenance of civil works infrastructures within hydro plants and carry out monitoring and evaluation on the performance of civil Structures for economic and safe operation of plants.
In close liaison with Water basin offices ensure sufficient availability of water for power generation.
In collaboration with other company departments carry out sediment mapping on the existing reservoirs and pOnds and recommend necessary interventions Ii efficient operation of plants.
Review various study reports carried out on behalf of the company by external consultants and ensure that they conform to acceptable standards.
Providing technical guidance and mentoring of staff.
PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL DETAILS MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
Good Bachelor degree in Water Resources Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized Institution.
At least five years of working experience in Water Resources field
Registered with relevant engineering professional bodies
Self-management and personal traits:
At least 5 years working experience in similar assignments

POSITION OBJECTIVE .

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for preparing and evaluating tender documents for civil works at the plant and monitoring water levels in the dam and produce report for Plant Manager To monitor condition of the trail race tunnel by recording dates and performing calculations
To maintain power house and dam and repair offices and staff houses/buildings
To maintain fresh water supply for domestic use and initiate and supervise at all works at the plant
Provide technical and professional support in the implementation of environmental mitigative and administer environmental monitoring. Ensure environmental matters arc timely and properly addressed to avoid tarnishing the company's image.
Supervise environmental and social activities at the Plant. This includes proper implementation of EMP activities which include regular maintenance of artificial sprinkler and infrastructure built in the gorge. Also ensure proper management of the catchment area and implementation of water right:
Establish and maintain good working relationship with relevant government departments, other institutions and organizations outside the company on environmental and social matters.
Enhance the company's environmental performance, taking into account technical and scientific developments as well as rendering of satisfactory services to customers.
Contribute to the transfer of environmentally sound technology and management methods throughout the industrial and public sectors.
Working closely with head office environmental department. in developing establishment and implementation of the environmental management system i.e. policy, guidelines and programs of the company's undertakings in collaboration with the relevant business units in the company as well as the relevant Government Authorities.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) is focusing on increasing the outreach and service quality of its Energy products for Tanzanian people. Next to its current passion as a leading provider of electricity is to be more efficient customer focused utility for Tanzania and beyond. The Company has the largest electricity generation, transmission and distribution network in Tanzania. In order to reach its goals, the Company will, in the coming years invest heavily in its generation, transmission and distribution network, its business systems and human capital. TANESCO now invites internal and external applicants who are self-motivated, honest, hardworking and committed individuals to fill the under-mentioned posts at Kihansi Hydropower Plant.
POSITION OBJECTIVE
Responsible for supervising the efficient operation of Kihansi by coordinating with the Maintenance department regarding Operational levels of Plants and equipments. Facilitate strategic reservoir regulation to Optimize Grid contribution of Kihansi and Uwemba Units.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitor and review operational levels of various Power Plant installations in view of maximizing Plant availability of Generating units. These include monitoring proper interaction of Operators with Operator station, Station computers, Main control system, Data communication system, SCADA system and other installations.
Timely report and interact with the Maintenance department for any discrepancy occurrences on the grid/generator sets.
Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports on operation activities of Kihansi and Uwemba Units. This should include breakdowns, power dispatch and Hydrological information. Data analysis must be made to facilitate generation forecast and improvement of maintenance frequencies.
Facilitate operational link between Kihansi and SCADA focused on optimal utilization of Kihansi Generating sets. These include advice operating on Outage requests and timely delivery of necessary information.
Ensure company safety, rules and regulations are adhered to at all the times when carrying out operation activities. These include proper switching, work permits to ensure the safety of personnel and security of the company equipment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
Good Bachelor Degree/Advanced Diploma in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering.
Self-management and personal traits:
Team player
A good knowledge in IT
Outstanding communication skills – oral, written, and presentation.
Works well under pressure, change and ambiguity
Ability to work diligently and independently
Exhibits high standards of business and personal ethical conduct
