Representatives from a Japanese automobiles firm have called upon Tanzanians to import vehicles that have been inspected, illustrating that by doing so they will be avoiding unnecessary additional costs.
Mr Stout Dean Lawrence, The International Operations Manager for the Japan-based East Africa Automobile Service Company Limited said in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday that importing uninspected vehicles pose as a risky doing as it may lead to further inconveniences to the buyer.
“Buyers should have a clear understanding that not all vehicles from Japan come in commendable quality, buyers should have the tendency to buy vehicles that has passed through inspection so as to maintain the quality and avoid incurring inconveniences,” he clarified.
Recently the company signed a three-year agreement with Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) that enables it to have the mandate to conduct pre-shipment inspection of motor vehicles being exported from Japan to Tanzania.
According to the firm’s Tanzania country manager, Mr. Josia Nguku, East Africa Automobile Company Limited will inspect all the vehicles and make sure that there is value for money in what Tanzanians import.
