Murder suspect Michael Adebowale appears in court accused of killing Drummer Lee Rigby and possessing a firearm

The 22-year-old (top left), from Greenwich, was flanked in the dock by two police officers and two guards after arriving at Westminster Magistrates' Court amid tight security (right). Wearing handcuffs, a grey sweater and white trousers, he was told that he did not need to stand up because he was injured after being shot by police. Adebowale is accused of murdering Drummer Rigby on May 22, as well as possessing a firearm, a 9.4mm KNIL Model 91 Revolver, with intent to cause others to believe that violence would be used.

An SAS unit ‘snatched’ Woolwich terror suspect Michael Adebolajo in Kenya as he prepared to enter war-torn Somalia, the Daily Mail can reveal.
Adebolajo was flown back to the UK but then allowed to roam the streets unchecked for the next two and a half years.
The extraordinary revelation that the  28-year-old was deemed so important that Special Forces were ordered to detain him will, in the wake of the killing of Drummer Lee Rigby in Woolwich last week, raise disturbing new questions as to why he was free to roam the streets of London.
