Sweden reports suspected case of Ebola

Officials at a Stockholm hospital reported that they had found a suspected case of the Ebola virus on Sunday night.




The patient is now being held in isolation at the Karolinska Hospital.

While the man had no concrete symptoms suggesting ebola, he had a high body temperature and fell ill after visiting a country in Africa known to be hit by the virus.

A hospital spokesman said they couldn't risk ruling out ebola. 

Åke Örtsqvist, a specialist in infection control responsible for the Stockholm area, was quoted as saying the risk of an Ebola outbreak in Sweden was "very low".

"The virus is not airborne, but is spread among humans through direct or indirect contact via blood and other fluids," he was quoted as saying
