Kenya itaanza kuvuna figo za watu waliokufa na kuzipandikiza kwa wagonjwa wanaosumbuliwa na matatizo ya figo kwa makubaliano ya wanafamilia wa marehemu

Mwenyekiti wa kamati ya kisanyansi ya Chama cha Figo Kenya Dk. Maranga Wamburu amesema sasa hivi Wizara ya Afya inafanya mazungumzo na wadau tofauti juu ya kanuni za kusiamama utolewaji wa figo kutoka kwa waliokufa 

Mwezi Juni Rais Uhuru Kenyatta alisaini muswada wa unaorahisisha Wakenya kujiitolea figo zao kwa ajili ya wagonjwa na utafiti

Kenya will soon start harvesting kidney from ‘dead’ patients and transplant it to those suffering from kidney failures upon consent from the deceased families. The chairman of the Kenya Renal Association scientific committee Dr Maranga Wambugu said currently the Ministry of Health is having talks with different stakeholders on the regulations and policies to conduct deceased donor transplantation. In June, President Uhuru Kenyatta assented to a Bill that makes it easier for Kenyans to donate their organs for transplant and research. The new law, which builds on the Human Tissue Act of 1966 (reviewed in 2012), allows a person who is competent to make a will or oral statement before witnesses to donate their body or specific organs to be used after their death either to save another person’s life or in
