Marilyn Monroe was—and is—one of the great mysterious beauties of our time. She died tragically at the age of 36 from an overdose that was ruled a probable suicide, leaving behind an incredible legacy for such a short life.
The home is in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles and is described as an “authentic 1929 Hacienda” by Mercer Vine, the real estate agency that listed the home.
“When you walk the house and grounds, you’re immediately struck by its serenity and warmth,” the home’s listing agent, Lisa Optican, said in a statement. “It’s an absolute oasis in the heart of one of the best neighborhoods in Los Angeles.”
It was in one of those four bedrooms that the inimitable Marilyn Monroe was found lying face-down in her bed, clutching a telephone, reported the Los Angeles Times. According to the newspaper, Monroe bought the house shortly before her death for a stunning $75,000. Home prices just aren’t what they used to be, are they?

“Anybody who likes my house, I’m sure I’ll get along with,” Monroe told Richard Meryman, then an associate editor at Life.
