COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Job Purpose:
To provide Technical support to World Vision Tanzania’s (WVT) image building initiatives in developing, managing and maintaining partner relations and development. This also involves developing and disseminating key communications resources for marketing, grant acquisition, public awareness and management of emergencies.

Under the overall guidance of the National Director with matrix supervision of the Regional Communications Director, the Communications Manager supervises the communications team as well as composes, edits, and manages the production of a full range of material to effectively support the advancement goals of the Business Development and Quality Assurance Unit to market WVT’s mission and achievements to diverse publics for the aim of seeking grants.
The incumbent will lead and supervise remotely the work of WVT Senior Communications Officers based in Arusha. He/she will also be expected to collaborate with WVT at the zonal/clusters level, WV Support Offices and media to communicate development results of the grants and non-grant portfolios.
The incumbent will also observe the mission and core values of World Vision and demonstrate a quality of spiritual life that is an example to others.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Build and generate high-quality evidence-based documentation
Collaborate with relevant colleagues to plan, coordinate and develop original communications materials and publications for grant-acquisition, for special initiatives and events, to showcase best practices and programs.
Develop content and review and edit drafts of diverse publications, prepare information brochures and factsheets; draft articles and re-package reports to communicate the achievements of major initiatives for distribution to partners, donors, prospects, and the general public. Also draft speeches, position papers and the flagship annual reports.
Produce transformational stories of project activities as per SO request and for use for internal and external platforms such as wvi.org/tanzania, newsletter, intranet and where appropriate social media, blogs, twitter in addition, take photos of project activities.
2. Communications strategy planning and execution:
Develop a communications and marketing strategy that will guide World Vision Tanzania in its external relations and internal communications.
Develop and deliver the communications department annual operating plan.
3. Organizational visibility, media relations:
Develop and sustain effective relationships with media at all levels to engage more effectively on issues of children and their development.
Ensure development of advocacy oriented communications to support advocacy campaigns, increase public discussion and fund-raising initiatives.
4. Capacity building of non-communicators:
Build capacity on communications of WVT grant projects non-communicators (on documentation and success story telling of the projects).
Provide orientation on child protection communications standards.
5. Emergency communications:
Plan and manage communications response to both slow and rapid-onset emergency disaster/relief situations ensuring that the region is provided with quality stories, photos and media interviews from the field.
6. Manage staff and the Communications department:
Manage team members, facilitate their optimum performance and provide a motivating and supportive environment to the team.
Be responsible for planning, budgeting, and reporting around communications.
7. Ensure brand visibility and enforce quality and standards:
Work with communications department to ensure consistency and compliance with WVT branding guidelines for all project related communication materials and products.
Respond to any other requests from National Director, Business Development Director.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

Minimum Qualification required:
Masters in marketing, journalism, development or corporate communication/public relations.
Experience: 5 to 7 years working experience. Proven track record in the effective use of marketing and communications for fund-raising.
Technical skills/Abilities
Extensive knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of oral and written communications and Interpersonal relations skills in order to determine the most effective communications and presentation materials.
Professional level skills in publications development with writing and editing experience preferably with a non-profit organization.
Skill in writing for a variety of audiences. Skill in writing and editing news and feature articles.
Ability to write/edit in a variety of writing styles, ability to draft materials on a wide range of topics.
Strong editing and proofreading skills.
Familiarity of fund-raising techniques including, proposal writing and public relations.
The ability to translate complex technical language and ideas into language easily comprehensible to non-specialists.
Photographic and video skills also preferred.
High level of confidence and confidentiality.

NATIONAL NUTRITION SPECIALIST

Job Purpose:
Under the supervision of the Program Development Director, the National Nutrition Specialist will contribute towards the attainment of WVT fundraising goal and objectives through coordinating Nutrition grant fundraising efforts. Additionally, the National Nutrition Specialist will coordinate engage and network with internal and external stakeholders to position WVT grant acquisition. Incumbent will consulate the Senior Grants Compliance Officer, to ensure grants under their respective portfolio are complaint to donors and the Government of Tanzania policies and requirements.

Grants acquisition/fundraising:
Implement WVT’s GAM (Grant Acquisition Management) Fundraising Strategy.

Ensure adherence to WVT’s GAM and Partnership’s practices and policies in pursuing grants.
Liaise with WVT’s departments, WV (EARO/SOs/GC) and potential partners (prime/subs) in the preparation of Nutrition bids.
Coordinate development of concept notes/proposals for identified funding opportunities (solicited and unsolicited) for Nutrition.
Provide Nutrition technical advice on key bid elements including proposal design, potential partnerships etc.
Stakeholder engagement - focused and intentional/donors/GoT preferred partner.
Implement WVT’s GAM Engagement Strategy.
Develop key engagement material (e.g. sector capacity statements, meeting talking points, stakeholder strategy analysis etc.) for Nutrition.
Liaise regularly and build relationships with key internal Nutrition (EARO, Global Centre and Support Offices) and external Nutrition (bi-, multi-lateral donors and government entities) stakeholders.
Update and maintain a database/register of key stakeholders and their representatives, and key documents (strategies, policies, reports etc.) for Nutrition.
Gather intelligence and influence stakeholders approaches to inform WVT’s fundraising strategy on Nutrition.
Coordinate engagement efforts with key WVT departments such as Communications, Advocacy and ISP and IPD.
Organize institutional arrangements with Nutrition key stakeholders (e.g. pre/teaming agreements, MoUs and support letters etc) to support WVT’s fundraising efforts.
Networking:
Involves informal/formal and less focused. More profiling/awareness raising/marketing/brand presence/understanding the terrain and explore possible partnerships/preferred partner:
Identify Nutrition key stakeholders and draw a networking plan with clear outcomes.
Actively gather intelligence of Nutrition key stakeholders i.e. location, interventions, portfolio, strategies etc.
Build relationships with Nutrition key stakeholders (e.g. INGOs, LNGOs, civil society, government ministries and national bodies/platforms).

Donor compliance:
Ensure all grant-making processes are completed upon awarding of Nutrition grants.
Coordinate grant start-up workshop and process for new Nutrition projects/programs with relevant stakeholders.
Together with the Senior Grant Compliance Officer and SO representative advice the CoP/ Project manager on key donor compliance standards/measures, including reporting, programmatic standards and M&E tools.
Oversee grant close-out for Nutrition projects/programs.
Capacity development:
Develop and execute WVT’s capacity building plan for non-PDD staff on fundraising around Nutrition.
Articulate WVT’s and the Partnerships’ Nutrition strategy to non-PDD staff.
Internal WV processes: - for performance management

Purpose of the position:
Project Coordinator will provide overall leadership and coordination to Diagnostic Smartphone Application (DSA) Program implementation in Maswa Cluster. She/he will ensure timely planning, implementation, communication, monitoring and evaluation of the project activities while maintaining effective communication with the WVUS based project lead, project consultant, CHMTs and the local government.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Strategic engagement and coordination:
Maintain coordination to all project partners at the national, regional and district levels including the Ministry of Health, RHMTs, CHMTs, consultants and regulatory institutions.
Work with the project consultant to develop, pretest and deploy non-invasive mobile phone application to be used by the frontline healthcare workers for anemia screening in pregnant women and children under five.
Work closely with the ADP manager, Cluster team leader and the Cluster health and nutrition specialist to integrate DSA interventions into ongoing Health, nutrition and livelihood interventions to enhance sustainability.
Ensure social behavior change communication strategies and interventions are developed and implemented to address iron deficiency anaemia in the ADP.
Networking, visibility and donor recognition
Ensures DSA program interventions and donor are recognized by the government, partners and communities.
Represent WVT and Participate in networking meetings/workshops/conferences with GoT and other stakeholders at the district, regional and national level.

Participate in Projects Budget Preparation and Management, monitor spending against budgets for all projects with the Program to ensure no under or overspending takes place.
Administration managements; Store management for the program and fleet management activities:

Maintain an updated and complete Fixed Asset Register at program level, Perform assets inventory at Least twice a year, all assets are tagged and coordinate disposal of obsolete assets as per WV Policy.
Also oversee any WV assets that could be transferred to Partners within the ADP to further WV business, post all the financial transactions to the systems.

World vision is recruiting for 23 Sponsorship and program Facilitators positions in the following areas:

Purpose of the position:
Effectively and efficiently facilitate Implementation of Technical Program and sponsorship at the project level to ensure that communities are empowered for sustainable development and they contribute to child well-being outcome as per World Vision standards

Roles and Responsibilities:
Implementation and reporting of planned activities:
Participate in planning and budgeting of Area Program, preparation of work plans, implementation of planned activities and monitoring/ reporting of progress.
Implement the Technical Program for Livelihood& Resilience, Wash, H&N projects to ensure all project activities and budget are spent according to plan, budget, timeframe and quality
Facilitate and monitor the implementation of planned activities and community level engagements.
Mobilize and facilitate the engagements of stakeholders during planning and development meetings, workshops and Seminars.
Identify local level partners, support and facilitate the partnership in the implementation of planned activities.
Facilitate stakeholders and partners in supervision and monitoring of programmatic activities.
Support the collection and documentation of impact and success stories on monthly, quarterly, semiannual and annually.
Community engagement and advocacy:
Sensitize community empowerment through TEAM approach by organizing commercial producer groups (CPG) and formation of commercial villages.
Mobilize and facilitate integration of Vision Fund Tanzania(VFT) and Resilience Project Models such as Market Led Agriculture, Local Value Chain Development (LVCD), Standardized Saving Groups (eg Village loan saving Association (VSLA) and other Economic development initiatives.
Innovatively support communities including RC households to participate and benefit from the programme development and make intentional inclusion of RC families in CPG, VSLA, Village Community Bank (VICOBA) and other program economic activities.
Sensitize community on sponsorship (RC parents/ guardians, community leaders and other community members) and facilitate participation in the sponsorship management project activities.
Mobilize and facilitate active participation of children and their communities to participate in planning, monitoring and implementation and evaluation of community development initiatives.
Build the capacity of children, families and community to collectively engage local leaders on identified issues.
Follow-up on commitments by leaders on improvement of the wellbeing of children.
Mobilize communities to participate in annual children care and protection days – such as the Day of African child.
Management of sponsorship performance:
Monitoring of RC in line with partnership standards.
RC records and files well managed and stored securely.
Support RCs to correspond with sponsors in a timely manner.
Facilitate processing of all special mails; Christmas cards, Spontaneous letters, APR, introductory letters within partnership standard.
Support children to respond to sponsor correspondences- Sponsor letters and introductory letters.
Support management of Support Office Queries, Gift Notifications, mails, and file copies of correspondences in children’s files.
Conduct and produce quality periodic mailings Annual Progress Report – (APR) and Christmas Cards.
Take quality pictures according to the required standards.
Mobilize and support RC families to adequately prepare for and manage sponsor visits.
Monitoring of Registered Children:
Support development of integrated monitoring plan in assigned area with ADP stakeholder
Analyze STEP management report and follow up critical RCs findings by using case management tool
Analyze Child well being (CWB) RC visits and Service Operation Indicator (SOI) reports from STEP and share them with ADP stakeholders
Compile monitoring reports for management action.
Hold monthly / quarterly meetings with Child Monitors and guardians/parents and child protection committees to address findings from monitoring.
Identify, train volunteers/monitor, partners and train on sponsorship philosophy and partnership standard.
Provide quality and accurate information on presence, support and benefit to enable entry in STEP database.
Child Protection and Wellbeing:
Monitor the wellbeing and child abuse cases and report any accordance in line with child protection policy and guidelines.
Work with local leaders to protection children from child violations and abuses on child protection.
Sensitization of children including all RC on child protection:
Sensitize children, guardians/parents and other stakeholders about children’s rights and responsibilities with a view to identify child violations.
Facilitate spiritual nurture of children.
Networking:
Facilitate networking relationships and participation with wide stakeholders such as government, church, faith based organization leaders and other key partners at local level such as NGOs, CBOs, IGA groups.
Facilitate WVT/VFT integration for profitable agriculture, livestock production and enterprise development (high value agriculture crops and livestock breeds).
Foster partnership with local institution in RC monitoring.
Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

Minimum Qualification required: Diploma in Social Science from accredited College/University in Agric. Economics. Nutrition, Health, Wash, Economic Development & related field.
Preferred: Degree in Agriculture Sciences, Animal Science, Economic Development, Nutrition, Health, WASH, , Education , & related field.
Experience: 2 years in programming
