BOTSWANA: Mtanzania, Musa Yange na Mzambia mmoja wamekamatwa wakituhumiwa kusafirisha tembe 141 za dawa za kulevya aina ya Mandrax.

Zambian Zuber Nyirenda (37) and Tanzanian Musa Yange (42), were this past Saturday evening caught trafficking 141 packages of Mandrax tablets at the Tlokweng/Kopfontein Border post.
The suspects were travelling from Tanzania in a truck stashed with Mandrax packages, which they managed to sneak past the Tlokweng side.
They were not so lucky on the Kopfontein side where customs officials found their stash with the assistance of sniffer dogs.
The South African Revenue Service (SARS) is alleged to have confiscated the boxes of mandrax worth R78 million.
The empty truck was undergoing a routine inspection and the SA Police sniffer dogs detected the drugs which had been stashed in hidden compartments in the truck.
When reached for a comment on how they carry out their inspections, the manager for Tlokweng customs unit, Drake Ramaeba referred this publication to submit a written questionnaire to their Head office.
Deputy Officer Commanding for the Diamonds and Narcotics squad of the Botswana Police Service, Superintendent Miriam Kilano, said they could not comment because the issue is a South African matter.
“All we know is that the truck was arrested in South Africa after passing through the Botswana boarder,” she said.
The Narcotics team were spotted on Monday morning having a meeting with South African police at Kopfontein Police.
Mandrax is a small tablet varying in colour which is highly addictive. Mandrax slows down the central nervous system and has a sedative effect and it is commonly smoked.
