The teenager, 19, was found by Guardia Civil after a man pulling a suitcase opened it up
Looking dazed and confused, this is the moment an illegal immigrant emerged from inside a suitcase while trying to get from Africa into Spain.
The 19-year-old was found crammed inside the blue bag by Guardia Civil at a border checkpoint between Melilla and Morocco.
He was released from the bag when police saw a 39-year-old man struggling with the suitcase. When they approached, he fled the scene leaving the teenager inside the bag.
Guardia Civil spokesman Juan Antonio Martin Riviera told El Pais: "He was tall, thin and had a big physique. We aren't talking about a small person."
The unnamed teenager, believed to be from Mali, did not have any paperwork and as he did not need hospital treatment was taken into custody.
He was stopped at the Beni Enzar crossing at 2.30pm on Friday.
Mr Rivera said that police had previously found someone trying to cross the border in a bag in the boot of a car
